What We Do

The Kennedy Choirs Booster Club is the backbone to the choir program at Kennedy High School. The booster club provides the following services to the program:

  • Fundraising Opportunities - The fundraising co-chairs work hard to minimize the amount parents/guardians have to pay for the cost of show choir and choir trips. Many different fundraising opportunities take place during the year to ensure that money is not a setback for participating in choir.

  • Costume Alterations -Many of our costumes are custom made based on measurements taken prior to summer vacation. Unfortunately, many pants need to be hemmed and dresses altered when we finally receive the costumes in the fall. This is a great opportunity for parents to meet other choir parents as well as help support the show choir program.

  • Set Building for the Holiday Show and Competition Sets - During the month of November, set building begins to get ready for the Holiday Show. Set building for the annual Holiday Show includes cutting wood, painting, and everything else in between. This is a great way to meet other choir parents and students. For competition season, backdrops, props, and risers are constructed to help increase the visual aspect of the show.

  • Retreat Meals Several times throughout the year, ESS and RIG will have retreats to learn choreography for their sets. The booster club provides the kids with lunch and dinner during these retreats and parents are encouraged to help make and serve the food to the kids.

  • Organization of Events (Pancake Breakfast, Pasta Dinner, etc.) - The two biggest fundraisers that the choir program handles are the RIG Pasta Dinner and the ESS Pancake Breakfast. Both of these events are planned through the booster club and parents are encouraged to help organize these activities. Parents are also encouraged to sell tickets and be ushers at choir concerts.

  • Support for the Directors and Students As parents, we need to support what our children want to do, but we also have to support the directors. We need to ensure that our children abide by the MSHL rules as well as specific rules put in place by Ms Goulet, Mr Telschow, and Zach Fremder.
